Refoundation and Revolution

We are socialists who stand proudly in the tradition of revolutionary Marxism as developed and exemplified by Marx, Engels, Luxemburg, Lenin and Trotsky, and by all the workers and militants who have fought for, enriched and reaffirmed that tradition.

We believe that the working class, which comprises the majority of the world’s population, is the only social force that can bring down capitalism and replace it with a just, humane and truly democratic society: socialism. We seek the unity of the working class. We support militant trade-unionism and all struggles of the working class against its exploitation. Our ultimate goal is the self-emancipation of the working class, which requires the formation of a mass revolutionary working-class party.

We oppose racial oppression, the oppression of women, the oppression of immigrants and the oppression of lesbians, gays, transgendered people and bisexuals. We support the struggles of these groups against their oppression, and their right to organize independently. We oppose national oppression and support oppressed nations’ right to self-determination.

Imperialism is capitalism’s ugliest and most brutal expression. We oppose it in all its manifestations, including the occupations of Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Haiti and threats against Cuba, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Iran, North Korea and Syria. We oppose it whether it acts openly or in the guise of international organizations, such as the IMF, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization and the United Nations.

Refoundation and Revolution is affiliated with the Coordinating Committee for the Refoundation of the Fourth International (CRFI), an international organization whose largest component groups are from Argentina, Brazil, Italy and Greece. The CRFI does not see itself as one of many competing “Internationals” but seeks the regroupment of forces committed to socialist revolution on a global scale.

Members of Refoundation and Revolution engage in the struggles of the day and simultaneously seek to foster a regroupment process to create a socialist organization large enough to attract militants looking for an alternative to capitalism. Most members of Refoundation and Revolution are also members of Solidarity. As part of our general regroupment orientation, we advocate Solidarity's pursuing regroupment with other revolutionary socialist organizations to form a larger, younger, more working-class, more multiracial/multinational revolutionary socialist organization.

Our national project is part of our international project. Our goal is a refounded Fourth International, that is, a world party politically consistent and organizationally coherent enough to take its place in the central leadership of the confrontation between labor and capital, whose outcome remains either socialism or barbarism.
